Veterans day

✿ By celebrating Veterans Day on April 23, we thank and acknowledge those men and women who have strengthened Estonia’s security and international credibility in military operations far from home, as well as their families and loved ones. Veterans Day is a tradition that began in 2013.

APRIL 19

The Estonian War Museum is celebrating Veterans Day with a large charity cake sale in support of Estonian Defence Forces veterans. For the first time this season, the military equipment hangar and armoured train No. 7 “Wabadus” are open. Admission is FREE.

APRIL 20

Services in churches belonging to the Estonian Council of Churches across Estonia. At the services of member churches of the Estonian Council of Churches, veterans and their loved ones will be included in prayer and fallen veterans will be commemorated.

APRIL 23

At sunrise, we invite everyone to raise Estonian national flags to celebrate Veterans Day!

10.00 Commemoration of fallen soldiers in the Tapa fort. Guests should contact kaido.oim@mil.ee. In the email, please indicate the names and personal identification codes of the guests, which are necessary for access to the territory of the military unit. Guests are asked to register no later than 15.04.2025.

12.00 Blessing of the veterans’ memorial fire and a soldier’s meal in the church yard. Lighting candles on the graves of the fallen across Estonia.

17:00 – 19:00 Joint reception of the Head of the DF and the Commander of the DL for all veterans of the Defence Forces and the Defence League in Tallinn, Vabaduse väljak 5.

19:00 – 22:30 Veterans Day concert Veterans Rock in Tallinn on the Freedom Square.

APRIL 26

NGO Estonian Defense Forces Veterans and the Defense League Jõgeva Malev celebrate Veterans Day at Udu talu. Gathering at 10:00 in the morning at Udu talu. Then take a bus to the Sinimägede Museum. We will arrive back at Udu talu at 15:00, when a quiz will take place in teams of 4. Around 18:00, a set table and reminiscences with comrades await the participants. All interested parties are asked to register no later than April 18 at meelis.mitt@kaitseliit.ee.
