On April 1st, the eleventh Blue Hepatica campaign “Let us salute!” will start, with which the veterans of the Defense Forces and the Defense League are invited to wear the blue hepatica pin.
The proceeds from the sale of the blue hepatica symbol will be used to contribute to the construction of a new rehabilitation campus at Põlva Hospital, in cooperation with the Estonian Disc Golf Association, the first disc golf course accessible to people with disabilities will be created, and sports and rehabilitation equipment will be purchased for the Otepää Health Centre.
“Veterans’ month and wearing the blue hepatica has become a viable tradition, with which we value the contribution of veterans to the defence of Estonia. A tradition known to both Estonians and our allies. Only this week we decided that the Estonian Defense Forces will go to the European Union operation in the Red Sea region. Veterans’ Month allows everyone to show that we care about those who make an invaluable contribution to the sense of security of all of us in different parts of the world,” said Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur, inviting everyone to wear the blue hepatica pin.

According to Enn Adoson, chairman of the board of the NGO Estonian Society of Wounded Soldiers, the main goal of the campaign is to recognize veterans – by wearing a blue hepatica pin. “We also welcome everyone to the Veterans Month events, which there are several this year – runs, hikes, disc golf, and much more to offer the opportunity to support for people with different interests,” added Adoson.

The purpose of the Blue Hepatica Campaign, which is in its tenth year, is to invite
people to wear the Blue Hepatica pin in support of veterans of the Defence Forces and the Defence League, and their relatives. There are more than 3,000 veterans among us, who have participated in various international military and peacekeeping operations around the world. The symbol of the veterans is the Blue Hepatica with which everyone can show that we value their contribution to our common security. Each Blue Hepatica pin, made by people with special needs across Estonia through the Hea Hoog Foundation, is a unique handicraft.
