102,000 euros collected for donations during Veterans Month

27.05.2025

Estonian Society of Wounded Soldiers and Women’s Voluntary Defence Organization conduct the Blue Hepatica campaign “Let’s Salute!” every spring in April, with the aim of recognizing and supporting veterans of the Estonian Defence Forces and the Defence League and their families.

According to the organizers, this year’s Blue Hepatica campaign for Veterans Month was a success. The campaign ran from 1st to 30th April and raised over 102,000 euros, which will be directed mainly to solving the mental health problems of veterans in reserve.

The campaign included a number of events and activities that brought people together, encouraged them to play sports and exercise, and raised awareness of the contribution and importance of veterans.

Traditional Blue Hepatica Runs took place in Tallinn, Tartu, and Jõhvi. In addition, people could also run in Saaremaa, Copenhagen, and Washington. There was also a virtual run at a time and place of their choice.

The virtual Blue Hepatica Journey took participants to mission areas around the world, offering participants the opportunity to learn about various crisis areas where Estonian soldiers have participated.

The National Defense Disc Golf Club conducted a disc golf competition series, where participants could, among other things, purchase special thematic discs.

Women’s Voluntary Defence Organization volunteers also helped raise donations throughout Estonia by selling products with Blue Hepatica symbols and through nearly 60 campaign events. Women’s Voluntary Defence Organization once again hosted the increasingly popular Blue Hepatica Auction. Participants had the opportunity to receive valuable experiences and items of symbolic importance in return for their support.

The free Veterans Rock concert organized on April 23 at Freedom Square in honor of Veterans Day brought together over four thousand listeners, and the concert featured performances by Svjata Vatra, Wiiralt, FLAPJACK and Terminaator.

“A big thank you to everyone who donated and took part in various events, and who helped organize and implement the campaign,” said Enn Adoson, Chairman of the Board of the Estonian Society of Wounded Soldiers.

The Blue Hepatica Campaign is being carried out by the Estonian Society of Wounded Soldiers in cooperation with the Women’s Voluntary Defence Organization. The contributions of the Estonian Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defence, the Estonian National Defence Forces Disc Golf Club, NGO Rakvere Maraton, Hea Hoog, Havas, Coop, Selver, R-kiosk, Apollo, MyFitness, Karupoeg Puhh, Matkasport, relvad.ee, Milworks, Ortopro, Go Craft, Huum, Defrem, Semetron, Maru Grupp, Threod Systems, BAE Systems, Nordic Armoury, the Estonian Volleyball Association, the Estonian Football Association, Autospirit, Swedbank, Montonio, Minilaod, Stebby, osta.ee, Websystems, Sportos, Kultuurkapital, the City of Tallinn and the Jõhvi Municipality contributed to the success of the campaign.
