In 2014 the charity campaign was organised for the first time, inviting people to wear Blue Hepatica flower pins in support of veterans of the Estonian Defence Forces and Defence League.

Although it was only the first year, the success of the campaign exceeded all expectations. In just two weeks as much as 67 967 euros were collected mostly with the sales of Blue Hepatica pins to purchase anti-gravitation technology based mobility aids (treadmills) for the East-Tallinn Hospital Clinic for Medical Rehabilitation, a necessary tool for the medical rehabilitation of wounded veterans. However, the volume of the proceeds enabled the clinic to purchase additional rehabilitation aids to be used by all patients.

The campaign was assisted by hundreds of the Women’s Voluntary Defence Organization volunteers throughout Estonia who introduced the idea of the Blue Hepatica flower campaign and sold handmade Blue Hepatica flower pins in their home region and at the events of Veterans Day.

The successful results of the campaign were achieved by selling nearly 34 000 Blue Hepatica flower pins and from other donations. Our great sponsor Selver made a 7000-euro monetary donation. In addition, SEBE, Tallinn Airport, Estonian Air and Swedbank contributed to the success of the campaign.

However, the main accomplishment of the campaign was the opportunity given to so many people to show they are proud of their veterans by wearing Blue Hepatica pins.

The charity campaign is led by NGO Estonian Society of Wounded Soldiers and Naiskodukaitse
